Trip to Eden Natures Park

We went t0 Eden Natures Park today. We enjoy trekking and discovering again the 4kms. trail. It was my nth time visiting this place but still I keep on going back because of the weather and the scenery. Lots of trees, animals and fruits. They also have their hydroponics system in growing lettuce. Lettuce is for sale too. You can buy directly to the gardener in charge in the said area. My family tried their swimming pool facility. It was so clean and the water is too cold. Unfortunately, I was not able to join my daughter in the pool due to secret reasons.hehehe So I just take pictures of the view and the whole family. Besides the amenities offered by the park, I enjoyed riding in the Indiana Jones cable. This place is a must for a first timer in Davao City. You will never regret being there and exploring the Eden Natures Park.

We have a good time celebrating valentines day with Noel and Keisha. Noel treat us for 3 days in a fine restaurant. He kept on complaining for the expenses but Keisha and I will just shrugged our shoulders and giggle. We know in our hearts that Noel loves to treat us and contented to see his family happy. Keisha would select for the place on where to dine and we just agreed on her. Mostly we dine at Penongs barbecue Haus situated along Times Beach. We love to hear the sound of the water and the rustling of the waves while dining. On the third day of treating us and its Valentines day, Keisha and I say our endless thank you to Noel and he was glad that finally his effort were paid off. I know deep in his eyes, that he was very happy upon hearing those words and Keisha kiss him all over the face by saying I love you Daddy. We were in the mall looking for spare parts needed by Noel in his car. I notice one flower shop that has a lot of customers mostly male buying those lovely roses. They bought by dozens and some were arranged with full decorations of balloons and teddy bears. I know prices of such things were very expensive in this Valentines day but still people who are romantic still express their love through flowers. Prices of roses will go as high as P800 pesos per dozen. Wow! Imagine that? When in fact , in ordinary days, roses could only be bought for P65 pesos per dozen. Every night after doing my household chores and everything was settled I find time to watch the show in the television soap drama series in GMA. At first I was so intrigued with the story and the title itself Ang babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang (The Woman Pulled from my Rib), so on the first night of the show, me and my daughter Keisha were in front of the TV watching the said drama. At first, I got annoyed of the artist who played Proserfina, because for every scene that she will portray,she needs to shout, have the strong character and impulsively act as a bad girl. So in this situation I tend to change channels from time to time because I cant tolerate the shouting of the main character. But when I read from the newspaper about these drama series, that's where I learned the character of Proserfina portraying.It tells the story of Homer Alcaraz , a young businessman who leads a boring life and suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. His relationship with Heleen , his fiancé, is falling apart and yet he is oblivious from it.He wakes up one morning, only to find Proserfina , an intriguingly beautiful woman, lying beside him. Proserfina is a psychotic spy, who is obsessed with Homer yet Homer doesn't know who she is and doesn't know she is obsessed with him and Prosefina doesn't want Homer to interfere with her own personal life because it is very dangerous and to be said that anybody that loves her will always gets into trouble or die. Today , my daughter Keisha will have their Chinese new Year Celebration in school. My sister would soon have her 2nd baby girl. She was then busy searching for the right name and preparing things needed for the new born baby. Taking care of a newborn baby is a disaster. Big C strikes again! Yesterday, we went to the wake of a family friend who died of Breast Cancer. Her name was Nening (real name MaryJane) a daughter of our godmother Perla. Though I was not close with them, I still accompany my mom in law in their home. As I peep in the coffin, Nening was so beautiful and resting peacefully. Her face was so tame and thin that is different from the picture displayed above the coffin. She suffered for 8 long years agonizing but still fighting to live normally for her 2 children. According to Noel, Nening was kind and easy to be with. She communicates well during their conversation as if she has no illness. We stayed there for an hour mingle to the members of the family. After that, we went home and Noel and I discussed the cause and effect of Cancer to our human body. Simply being a woman has the greater risk for breast cancer. Different risk factors could link to have the disease. Hormones seems to play a big role in many cases of breast cancer, but how just this happens is not fully understood. Maybe proper diet, exercise, avoiding alcohol and smoke could save us from the Big C. Health is Wealth as the saying goes. To Nening, farewell and Rest and Peace.

Fiesta in January

The Christmas season has ended. Now its the time for Fiesta's. As the new month of the year 2009 begins , celebrations for Fiesta has lined up. In January, we celebrate 3 big events in different places. First, was the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Quaipo, Manila. It was held every 9th of January. It is crowded because masses of devotees push and shove as they get the chance to touch or even carry the image of Christ that was known as the Black Nazarene. Black Nazarene was believed to be the answer to all prayers and wishes to all devotees. It was dressed in Red velvet embroidered with gold threads. So, If you don't mind of the crowds, this is an event that should be experience. You must bring water, towel and don't wear anything valuable. Thieves in this occasion has their own feast too and also do not bring your children.

Second event was the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City. The Dinagyang Festival is a very colorful festival that the people are shouting the thundering words of "Hala Bira" and makes the celebration so lively. The highlights of the fiesta is the parade of dancers dancing in the streets to dramatized in honor of the Senyor Santo Niño shouting "Viva Señor Santo Niño". The big event will be on January 24 and 25. The city aims for the world record on biggest batchoy bowl. They aim to promote batchoy as a soup delicacy of Iloilo. Batchoy used to be only a mixture of broth, innards of pig, pork chicharon and other spices. But today, it has a variety of flavors like beef and even seafood batchoy. This will be a merriest event of the year for all Ilonggos as they serve their food for all streetchildren of Iloilo City.
The third big fiesta to celebrate was the Sinulog Festival. Sinulog is a dance ritual in honor of the miraculous image of the Santo Niño. The dance is performed to seek help from the Santo Niño and to thank Him for favors and blessings received. These Fiestas in January is a must see and be attended. The statue beside me is a replica of the Ateneo de Manila virgin Mary. It was given by the classmates of Attorney Jesus V. Ayala of Davao City and it is now displayed up in the Eden Nature Park of Davao City. This is one of the tourist attraction of the park. aside from this, there were also a lot of beautiful spots and places inside the resort plus you can see how they grow lettuce through hydroponics. It is very interesting to travel inside the park because you will discover a lot of interesting things.

Yesterday was Keisha's Christmas Party. They celebrated Christmas with the theme "Pistang Pinoy sa PWC Preschool"(Filipino Fiesta in PWC Preschool). During the party all children present their Christmas Songs, "Pasko Na Naman" at " Tuloy na Tuloy" songs in Pavilion. They bring their handmade musical intstruments like tambourine made from bottle tops, maracas which made from a plastic bottle filled with stones etc. All materials used for their caroling was made from recycled materials. They also wear any Filipino Attire(terno malong) or a souvenir shirt from the Philippines or any place in the Philippines. Keisha wear a Bohol t-shirt who has a Tarsier printed in front of it. It was given by her Auntie Jean long time ago. Their foods was also a Filipino dishes or delicacies served in every children. And addition to this event, all children were treated with luscious chocolate fountain and they claimed their prizes as they played bunot-bunotan and pabitin. They also enjoy the amazing bubble show that was hosted by a local entertaining group Pongee. Preschool children really enjoy their Christmas party and they received gifts from the teachers. Children went home with a satisfied party and a they have lots of stories to tell with their parents and loved ones.

Noel's Birthday

It is Noel's Birthday today. We celebrate it with a fine dinner together with his high school classmate .They stayed at home till the wee hours in the morning. They party and have thier videoke in our Tv room. They sang and dance with their favorite songs. Others dance in our sala. It was a party indeed. 9 Mornings

9 Mornings or "Simbang Gabi" brings significance to our lives. It is a Filipino Christmas tradition. It is a series of nine(9) dawn masses. In our province, the ringing of the church bells and the sounds of Christmas songs fills all over the town that starts at 3 in the morning so as to awake people and be ready for the 4 a.m. mass. It begins on December 16 and ends on midnight of December 24, which culminates in a midnight mass. It was introduced by Spanish friars, simbang gabi or misa de gallo was started to allow the farmers to hear mass before going to the fields. After the mass , traditional delicacies await church goer. The delicious bibingka, suman, biko puto bumbong are sold outside the church. Some people who attended straight simbang gabi says that all their prayers and wishes were granted. They believes that completing the dawn masses will make a wish come true. To the believers and religious person, old and young finds time to attend dawn masses. Many make their sacrifice to rise early not only to have their wishes come true but to follow a tradition. This Christmas is not complete with out attending simbang gabi. It also brings us a double celebration in our lives as a couple because the start of simbang is also the 35th birthday of Noel and the 8th year Anniversary of our marriage. We are truly grateful that we experience a wonderful lives together with Keisha inspite of all the problems that comes our way. Hoping that we will last longer and live a meaningful life ahead of us. And hoping too, that for the first time we could attend the first simbang gabi. Merry Christmas!!!!

Steamed Rice Cake with brown sugar

My mom loves to cook "biko" or steamed rice cake. Everytime we were home, she eagerly prepare the ingredients and find way to cook it in the right way. Every occassion or even weekdays Biko is always present in our table. Cooking rice cake is not easy. There are lots of ways of cooking and style of the Biko. It has to be a lot of effort and patience to mix sugar and rice to have a better appearance and taste. Here is the list of ingredients needed for cooking:

glutinous rice

4 cups water

1 tbsp. vanilla extract

1 cup brown sugar

banana leaves ( optional )

grated coconut meat from 4 coconuts (reserve coco milk)

Cook glutinous rice in water just like you do with plain steamed rice.
In saucepan, pour brown sugar, coconut milk, and vanilla extract.
Mix, stir and let boil. Add cooked glutinous rice to coconut milk mixture and cook until thick.
Spread evenly on platter (or bilao) lined with banana leaves.
Slice and serve.

Note: It is best serve with hot native coffee or a cold softdrinks.

In-laws sucks!!!!!grrr! Sometimes my patience endures till the end. But this time, it was over! we were living beside their house and the only thing that separates us are plants that was displayed and its for sale. So every time I have things to be done or plans about our home, in laws were there to comment or suggest anything . Sometimes I'd just say yes or go with their suggestions but annoyance struck me and back of my mind tells me that I want them to evaporate. Living in the same house creates chaos and freedom was far to me. But never in my life rather never dream of living with them in one house. Big thanks to my husband who build his own house. I want to have a family of my own, stood at my own, live peacefully and do things on my own. Even though, these situations arises, still I respect and love them. Besides it is the family of my husband. Being the only one who resides near them, I have to have an endless patience(Oh God!please let me have this!) and try to be good daughter in law to them.

Boy George has been convicted of falsely imprisoning a male escort. The jury in a London court sided with Audun Carlsen, 29, who claimed that the former Culture Club frontman (real name George O'Dowd), 46, had handcuffed him and beat him with a metal chain. This musician was known from his 80's hits such as "Karma Chameleon".

Admitted to cuffing the escort, but said it was because he suspected the man of tampering with his computer. According to the U.K.'s Press Association, the singer looked grim as the verdict was delivered. The singer was released on bail until his Jan. 16 sentencing. Judge David Radford warned Boy George that he was likely to face jail time. "The fact that your bail is being continued does not imply that this will be dealt with by a non-custodial sentence," he said, CNN reports. "I don't want any false expectations created." Child's burden in School through their Backpacks

I am worried to my child Keisha who is now in level 3 studying in a private school who carries all her things in school through backpacks. As if she's carrying the world-her textbooks, notebooks, baon and girly stuff on her small and fragile shoulders. Everyday she caries everything even though all her different textbooks may not be use all for one day. The school did not allow preschool students to use trolley or stroller bags so as to avoid accident to other children. Backpack may be practical carryall for kids school stuff but be aware that one day it may lead to a series of health concerns for children. Improper use of backpacks can really cause stress to the bones as well as the body. It can be source of damage to a child's spine. Carrying heavy loads could lead to medical problems such as muscle fatigue, scoliosis and spondylitis. So, to ease the burden everyday for Keisha, I have pack the right amount of things inside her bag and the rest will be left in our home, things that will not be needed on that particular day. I also teach her to carry her stuff in correct and safe way. Making sure that snug are not too tight and distributing the weight evenly and stabilize the load. Remind her also to rest if she starts feeling some discomfort while carrying the bag. It is more important to teach children the proper way in carrying their backpacks to avoid hunched backs later on. Child's bone are still developing so unnecessary stress on the young bones can alter its growth.

Missing my folks

I have talk to my folks through long distance, asking them of their whereabouts and their condition since they were living alone together in our home at the province. Hearing their voices and stories from days work makes me feel lighter and secured. Their situation of living together without us, they have 3 siblings and I am the youngest, started when we studied at Davao City. At that time, the least we could visit them is for 1 day or spending more time when its school break. Now, that we are having our own family, Opps! not all of us. It's just me and my other sister who is now happily married spend longer time with them during Christmas season. The eldest sister who was still enjoying her single blessedness goes home when she can have her one or two months vacation from abroad. Sometimes, thinking of the situation that my parents have right now was also a learning experience for me. Time will come that Me and Noel can also experience the same way that my parents did. Children leaving their homes looking for their better future. Even though we are apart with each other, the love and care was still there and the most important thing is we communicate almost everyday. And thanks for the technology!.

This morning, after I have washed all our clothes, a customer friend Esther visit our garden. She was with his husband planning to buy some cenisio plants. But before we can go concentrate to our business proper, she tells me a story about the condition of his husband. His name is Bebot. Nong Bebot as I call him, showed to me his small toe at the right leg that was wrap by a bandage. It was getting black and pus was drifting the other day as Esther relates in her story. Our home was empty!I could barely hear the sound of the lizard crawling in one place to another and the ticking of the clock near the front door. Noel went to Cebu and Keisha stays in her grandma's house for awhile. Travelling in nearby cities

Yesterday, we travel to Kidapawan City to buy some seedling plants for our stocks in our garden. We have our lunch in Talisay where restaurants can be seen in the highway and overlooking the sea. Dolly Restaurant offers a lot of seafood's to choose from. They have the curacha(big crabs), lokon (shrimps), tuna panga and belly fish, grilled bihod (roe), native chicken soup, grilled pusit (white squid) seafood pansit, lato and guso(all kinds of seaweeds) and the Imbao (clams). As excited as we are to take our lunch, me and my daughter ordered lokon and seaweeds. My husband ordered clam soup because it is only his favorite food to eat besides he is allergic to crustacean foods. Anyway, we have our hearty lunch and its so yummy. They have serve 3 pieces lokon(shrimp) for us as one order. I was shocked because I was expecting that they will serve more in one plate. I let Mica eat all the shrimp meat and the rest was mine. I have also a bowl of clam soup and seaweeds. After this, We travel again straight to Kidapawan and bought all the plants that we needed. At 4 in the afternoon we were ready again to go home back to Davao City. Heavy Rain started to fall and it the road was so dark. Again we stop by at Mcdonalds in Digos City and take our dinner. At 7 in he evening we finally reach our home and my stomach started to rumble. I went straight to the comfort room and seated there for 30 minutes. And the next morning I was ill, I have been to the comfort room starting at 2:30 in the morning until 6. Now, I was feeling okay and started to blog here, my daughter was already in school serviced by my husband. I guess, the shrimp and the clam was the culprit of my stomachache but I have no regrets having them for lunch.heheheh Good day!

I have this neighbor who irritates me every night. She owns a little grocery store who sells everything. From dry goods to wet goods. Every people in the village bought from her with no choice because it is the only mini store that is available. Even though the prices of commodity was little bit higher but still the villagers cater to her store especially in times of emergency. It is also advantage for us because in times of need and shortage in our kitchen stuff, we ran into this store and buy immediately what we needed in our home. But one thing I hate to this store is that the owner has her videoke machines inside her house. It will start as early as 3 in the afternoon until the wee hours in the morning. The loud noise that came from this machines plus the customers who sings out of tune makes me nuts!.grrr!!! Sometimes, customers are drank and sing with their lungs out disturbs all the neighbors of this nuisance things. Pity for all the students who have the exams for the next day, for I am sure that they could not concentrate with their studies. And also for the new mothers who have a little children that disturbs the restful sleep that grabs by the loud videoke machines. But all if these irritations of mine was being vanished when the Mayor in this cities ordered to ban 24/7 all the videokes in the residential areas because of the numerous complaints that he received. Though the City Mayor gives curfew on establishments who operates videokes outside residential areas. Thanks for this law for it gives us all comfort and a good night sleep to every one of us in the village but sorry for my neighbor who owns the little store, I am sure that there are other ways to earn money aside from this business.

Tablet stuck in my throat

I am not feeling well and my backache hurts. I decided to take paracetamol 500mg to ease the pain. As I reach the refrigerator for a glass of water I already have the tablet in my mouth. So when I drink the water the tablet stuck in my throat and panic strikes me. But I tried to drink again the cold water but still it was there. I just close my eyes because I don't want to vomit it and take it all out. Slowly I drink again for the third time, and thanks God, it was slowly going down in my stomach. In my entire life, I really hate taking tablet medicine. It will always stuck in my throat and it shivers me. Maybe, it was not best to drink tablet with a cold really cold water.Isn't it? But for now and its already midnight, I have no choice but to take it because I could no longer bear the pain at the back. I do hope the pain will gone sooner so that I could stay longer here in front of the monitor.

As we walk towards the hardware store I saw Gemma my high school classmate and friend who was also shopping in the mall together with her children. It was our first time to see this Ornamental Decorative Gourd during the 23rd Kadayawan Festival at Agro-Trade Fair and Horticulture Exhibit. My husband and I were amazed with the size and quality of the gourd. We take pictures as a remembrance and they are for sale at P200 a kilo. My mother-in-law was also fascinated bought 2 pieces and paid it for 75pesos. She needed the seed to propagate but until now I never heard if it was alive.lol. It has different colors and sizes. I was trying to ask to the saleslady if this gourd could be eaten but she never answer me. Anyway, the owner of this decorative gourd is Puentespina Orchids.

My daughter Mica loves secret. She likes to whisper in my ears all her secrets so that her Dad can't hear what she's saying. Every time she has a problem in school she will talk to me privately especially when her things in school were misplace or lost or just a comment from her classmates. The first time when she tells me her secret was when her toy car was nowhere to be found inside the classroom. The teacher required them to bring their favorite toy car as a project. We kept our secret for a week from his dad so that Daddy will not scold her and she hopes that toy car will return to her after all the teachers in pre-school were informed of the lost toy. But in her dismay, toy car cannot be found and one day when we got home , I already informed my husband first of the news and alarm him not to get angry with Mica because she was very upset. So when the time Mica told his dad about it, tears were flowing in her eyes and gave her promise to his dad never to bring any thing in school. As a mom, I was happy that my daughter trust me and I go with her secret because it opens up her feelings and disappointments at an early age. In spite of all these things that we experience, still we were high in spirit and not losing our hope nor giving it up. We just continue to live in a simple way of life, doing things we used to and most of all clinging and increasing our faith to the Father Almighty. I know He is always there looking at us and knows what is the best for all of us. He will never fail us in times of need. A joint team from the Tacurong police and representatives of the NFA and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) raided the Tacurong Agri-World Rice Mill on Wednesday morning and found at least 1,000 sacks of NFA well-milled rice being re-bagged.Tacurong police director Joel Limson, in a interview, said that during the raid, at least 80 of the re-bagged rice were already loaded on a 16-wheeler truck and was about to be delivered to a buyer in Davao City.Limson said 10 workers were at the warehouse when the raiders arrived at around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, but rice mill owner Bernardo Tan was not around.The raiding team was led by Tacurong City councilor Excel Pauya and Vicente Gopes, together with an investigator of the NFA in Sultan Kudarat and Carmen Porto from the DTI, also in Sultan Kudarat. Wedding bells are ringing! Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have tied the knot. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles. DeGeneres, 50, and de Rossi, 35, both wore Zac Posen and exchanged rings by Neil Lane during the Saturday ceremony. Their big day also featured arrangements by L.A. florist Mark's Garden. The intimate ceremony was attended by 19 guests, including DeGeneres's mom Betty and de Rossi's mother Margaret Rogers (who flew in from Australia for the occasion), who witnessed the couple exchange handwritten vows. The couple have been dating since December 2004. DeGeneres announced her plans to wed de Rossi during a taping of her talk show in May after California's Supreme Court ruled a previous ban on gay marriage to be unconstitutional. The following month de Rossi showed off a 3-carat diamond ring set on a pink pavé band DeGeneres presented to her for their upcoming nuptials when the pair attended the Daytime Emmy Awards together. "She's taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I've taught her," the TV host said of de Rossi last year. "We've both changed and grown, and we just feel like, 'Oh, okay, this is completion.'" My daughter really loves to play online on the net. But the problem is, she can't go near the computer because her dad was busy updating his blogs from time to time. She can't even distract or fool her dad to let him go away in front of the computer. She's dreading to play y8.com or disneygames online but have no chance at all. Instead she will go in front of the television and watched her favorite show but from time to time she keep on checking his dad if it is already finished. Sometimes I let her help me cook our food or just simply beside me and tell some stories about in school or a show on tv. Children nowadays as early as 4 years old is so active and updated in all the gadgets. There are the first one to know how to operate even if they seen it for the first time. Compare to the children before or the adults now, they still observe or read the instructions first before touching anything.

A source said that they always have a segment to do the handover, to showcase the next city to host the Olympics. When the Games end at Beijing's National Stadium, the distinction of hosting the Summer Olympics transfers to London in 2012 – with the international soccer star there to help mark the transition. "He was very involved in the London bid to get it, and as a Londoner he is incredibly proud that the Olympics will be in London," the source added. "He is passionate about it and looking forward to the games in 2012." But Beckham's already sports-packed schedule won't leave much time for a leisurely stay in China. "If his [calendar] works out, he will be able to go from the L.A. Galaxy game to Beijing," says the source. "It also depends on if he gets picked for the next England game, as he can go on from there." It's been an honor for David to be part in closing Beijing Olympics and bring it to his country to the 2012 Summer Olympics to his homeland.

Planning to have a healthy Lifestyle

My husband and I planned to have a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy foods. All should be taken in moderation from morning to evening. We decided not to eat pork anymore as one of our favorite viand in the house instead taking and eating vegetables, fish and fruits only. And not only that we also cut our consumptions of beverages especially coca colas and switch to juices and mostly purely water. At first, the temptation we can't resist but we always try to remind ourselves and the promises that we made to be thin and healthy . We hit the grocery for our food together and even my daughter reminds us always of that diet plan. But there are times that we crave for the food we love, we only discussed for it and in the end we decided not to bought for it for the reason that we already have a taste of it before. Hopefully, we could keep our promise to eat healthy and enjoy our lives longer together.
