Bringing Home (pasalubong) treats is one of the charming Filipino customs. For our daughter, it has become a wonderful ritual that signals her that we are home and everything is all right. Routines like this are important to every child. It precisely creates or establishing habitual patten of activities, such as the morning routine and the bedtime routine. But tantrum starts for not bringing home some stuff . We tried to be tolerant of her disappointment. We tried to emphasize that the real gift is not only the material object but the warm presence and delight in seeing her. Focus on the routine of coming together rather than on the specific activity of gift-giving. And when she grows older, she will become more flexible and routines change occasionally.
