There are lot of conditions of symptoms that shares the same and are sometimes confused. Here are some good information on how to detect them.
Dehydration or Diabetes?
Symptom: Thirst
If you are thirstier than normal, your body needs to rehydrate. If you've lost fluid from sweating, your thirst is more likely to be caused by dehydration. Thirst in people with diabetes happens because there's sugar in their urine, which makes the body produce more urine and leads to more frequent passing of fluid. It's more likely to be diabetes if your waking up several times at night to go to the toilet and need to drink loads of water.
Sunburn, diarrhea, vomiting, hot flushes, blood loss, gastrointestinal bleeding and breastfeeding are other possible causes of thirst.Leukemia or Purpura?
Symptom: Unexplained bruising
Purpura is Latin for "purple" and is associated with several diseases and blood disorders. Bruising is the result of bleeding under the skin and is one of the signs of leukemia, which may also cause weakness, tiredness, susceptibility to infections, weight loss, flu-like symptoms, nosebleeds and or tiny red dots under the skin. A condition called senile purpura is common in older people. Immune disorders, aplastic anaemia, kidney failure and cirrhosis of the liver are the other possible causes of easy bruising.
Canker Sore or Cancer?
Symptom: Mouth Ulcers
Ulcers in your mouth are also known as canker sores. They are extremely common-affecting around one in five people. Canker sores are usually recurrent, always temporary and can appear in times of stress, if you brush your teeth too vigorously or even when you have your period. Expect a mouth ulcer to disappear in about 10 days. Even if they come back again and again they are usually harmless. But if they don't heal, it is a good idea yo get them checked because they can be a sign of mouth cancer of leukemia. Viral infections, diabetes, thrush, poor oral hygiene, accidental biting, poorly fitted dentures or braces are the other possible causes of mouth ulcers.
Rheumatoid Arthritis or Lupus?
Symptom : Joint Pain
Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease that causes pain and swelling in the joints particularly in the hands and feet. It's likely to be in more than one joint and is worse in the morning until your joints warm up. Lupus is also an inflammatory disease. In some cases it causes a butterfly-shaped rash across the nose and cheeks. Lupus is much harder to recognise. It's a complicated disease that can manifest itself in different ways and can affect the lungs, brain, kidney and other organ. Osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, influenza are other possible causes of joint pain.
Heart Attack or Indigestion?
Symptom: Chest pain
The classic signs of heart attack include a crushing or tight pain in the chest that may radiate down one or both arms or even to the jaw or back. Not all the heart attacks produce classic symptoms but it may be difficult to tell the difference between the heart attack and a bout of heartburn. With a heart attack, however, you're more likely to be sweaty. Angina, panic attack, pancreatitis, ling disease or rib injury are the possible causes of chest pain.
